Witches In Fiction 2014… Crafting Blooming Howls
Greetings dear darklings, and welcome to my little contribution to the Witches In Fiction… Crafting Blooming Howls blog party, hosted by the fabulous Magaly Guerrero of Pagan Culture blog.
I have never been handy with a needle and thread, but I have always thought it would be fun to dress my babies up in homemade costumes for Halloween. When I read about the theme for this blog party, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take up the challenge and make this little dream a reality!
Given my lack of sewing skills, Mother 'Mingo very kindly assisted me with creating these cute costumes for her grandchildren, even going as far as sourcing fabrics and appliqués for them - thanks Mum!
I decided on a Merlin costume for Norman:
|
Trying on Norman's hat |
And a bat costume for Till:
|
Trying on Till's wings |
Now to put them together for a cute family snap!
Here, Merlin Norman has used his magical beardy powers to cast a spell on Till, turning him into a Mini Schnauzer-Bat. Neither of them seem quite sure about all this witchy business, but their mother thinks they look adorable :D
I look forward to seeing you all over at Magaly's blog and reading all of your posts!
Haha... it's so funny!... The Cuties looks so good... perfect Halloween Costumes!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much MK! Haha I had a good giggle at them all dressed up too! :D
DeleteOh my gosh how adorable are these costumes! Very sweet!

Thank you so much Jennifer! I was very lucky to have Mother 'Mingo's assistance with them, I had no idea where to begin! :)
DeleteROFLMAO!!! That pointy wizard hat and beard on a bearded dragon is TOO MUCH!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd then we have "Batdog"! I can see him sitting in the passenger seat of the Batmobile, waiting for Batman! ;-)
Hahaha you're a gal after my own heart, Lucretia! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I had a good chuckle at the idea of a beardy with a beard and thought yep, that's Norman's costume right there! :D
DeleteI love the idea of Till being Batdog, waiting in the passenger seat of the Batmobile! I hadn't thought of that at all, brilliant! Must expand his costume now to include a yellow bat logo across his chest!
I LOVE this photo! Perfect super models and adorable and stunning outfits! Suiting their personalities, Oh this must be a card ! Yes! Yes!
ReplyDeleteYou have caused an AWE! all over the world!
xoDebi
Thank you so much Debi! I think the costumes suit their personalities too - Norman is quite the wise old wizard, and Till is a cute little creature of the night, in slightly scared awe of Norman :D
DeleteI love the idea of making this into a card for my family, brilliant! Yep, that's my Christmas cards for this year sorted - thank you! xox
Oh my gosh! Norman and Till are bloody adorable, and I love the costumes sooo much!
ReplyDeleteBrilliantly done :)
Thank you so much Yvonne! I was very lucky to have Mother 'Mingo's assistance with them, I had no idea where to begin! The boys both completely convinced of their adorability, so they will be pleased to hear you agree! ;D
DeleteDear Lawd! Norman and Till look absolutely freakin' adorable! I laughed out loud at the expressions on their faces! This post is beyond cute! So glad that Mother 'Mingo was able to lend you a wing! ;D
ReplyDeleteHaha aww thank you so much Emma! Yes their little faces say it all really - "Mummy what are you doing to us?" and "I am not amused, Mother." :D I'm very lucky that Mother 'Mingo was able to lend me a wing (I see what you did there, hehe!), I had no idea where to begin but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out :)
DeleteI'm roaring at poor Norman's face! Till seems to be dealing with it. I can almost see the bubble over Till's head, "Saying. I will pretend I'm not mortified." This was perfect! And tell Norman that the beard is awesome! ;-D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Magaly! I think you're spot on - Till was able to hide his mortification just that bit better than Norman, haha! Norman has such little tolerance for his mother's whims :D
DeleteI will happily pass your message along to my eldest - maybe he will believe it coming from you! ;)
Aw, the cuties! LOL, my dog Kit would probably need to be bribed with a generous amount of treats before he'd agree to a costume. Then he'd probably try to eat the costume! Congrats on getting your babies in costume long enough for an adorable picture.
ReplyDeleteAww, Kit sounds just like Till - there was some bribery involved here too!
DeleteThank you so much Kestril, lovely to meet you :)
I am in love!
ReplyDeleteYou have made me smile today.
Aww, that's wonderful DogsMom! I'm so happy to hear that!
DeleteThis is so cute! I love this post so much! Thanks for the smiles ;o) Big Hugs ;o)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, lovely Stacy! It makes me very happy to hear this made you smile :) Big hugs to you too! xo
DeleteThose costumes are so creative and perfect for Norman and Till. I love their pic against the blue background. Go you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lexa! The background is from the duel scene in The Sword In The Stone, when Merlin and Madam Mim turn each other into other creatures - seemed appropriate for this, hehe! :)
DeleteHappy Halloween
ReplyDeleteThank you Gatekeeper! Happy Halloween to you too!
DeleteAw, so adorable! They look very happy wearing their costumes, my bird would never wear a costume, I hope my future dog will! Love the background too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Laura! I think they're pretty adorable too, but being their mother I know I'm biased :D The background is from the duel scene in The Sword In The Stone, when Merlin and Madam Mim turn each other into other creatures - seemed appropriate for this, hehe! :) What kind of birdy do you have? I'd love to hear more about my little feathered cousin! :D
DeleteHaha, they're so cute!
ReplyDeletePets always look like that when you put costumes on them, like; Ok, now what?
They do don't they, Ms Misantropia?! Norman has that look down to a fine art - he's had to endure 10 years of being dressed up, while Till has only had two :D
DeleteHaha, this made me smile, that family snap is super, love the seeing the steps it took to get there :) I am still making my way around the partiers, like that last guest that doesn't want to leave because they are having so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHehe glad to hear it made you smile, Shelle! It was a great blog hop, and that art you created both for your post and for Magaly's book was just amazing!
Deleteoh how delightful. I love the pets costumes, most especially the bearded dragon. We had a wonderful beardie whose name was Butter....just about the same color as you beautiful critter. I'm so glad I got here, even if it is a little tardy. Thanks for having me, Oma Linda
ReplyDeleteThank you Oma Linda, and thank you for stopping by! Your Butter sounds absolutely gorgeous - it's lovely to meet a fellow beardie fan :)
DeleteAaaaaaaaggggghhhh! They are just too cute!!!! Wish my Doggies would let me dress them up...maybe I will try again lol *has a Dalmatian seriously in need of a vampire make-over* :D XXX
ReplyDeleteOh I hope they let you try again, Gina - I would love to see your Dalmatian as a vampire!! :D xx
DeleteLove the costumes! My son wants to get one for his bunny.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the Crafting Blooming Howls blog hop!
http://timbrannan.blogspot.com/2014/10/witch-crafting-celebrating-halloween.html
Thank you, Timothy! A bunny in a costume would be just gorgeous - I hope your son's bunny lets him dress him up!
DeleteSee, the wizard-lizard is easily my favorite. That needs to be out on the internetz now getting captioned, meme'd and viral'd about. Very cheerful little costumes, and a day brightener for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear they brightened your day, Narrator! And that idea of yours made me smile - perhaps I should meme-ify my little wizard-lizard :D
DeleteLove your little stars and the story you crafted for them to play out!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sharon! Lovely to meet you through this wonderful blog hop!
